Of course with twice as many snipers it's twice as easy to alert the enemy, so that is something both players need to contend with. From what we saw the game doesn't necessarily change up the enemy patterns or numbers when another player is present, but we didn't find the missions overly easy - just more easily paced. Using the binoculars you can tag enemies that both you and your partner will see this aids in setting up attack routes and covering fire as you progress through the maps. The entire campaign can be played in co-op, with both friends taking the role of a sniper. While the single player campaign is fun enough, it's when you bring a friend into the foray that the strategy of the game takes a whole new turn. You'll rescue prisoners and cover their escape, and blow up convoys filled with enemy soldiers, and blow up plenty of artillery guns. While some have you hanging back and eliminating enemies one by one, others have you sneaking into areas and finding the best position available to do the same. Your team will need to utilize traps and other explosive to their full potential to survive all twelve waves.Through the campaign, Sniper Elite 3 does a good job of mixing up the pacing of the missions. This mode ramps up quickly and depending on the radio position, provides some real challenge and strategy.
As a bonus, the game provides matchmaking for the co-op campaign making it easy to find a game to play.įinally there’s a four player co-op survival mode where players must defend a rotating radio listening station every couple of waves against enemies. Adding in co-op means you can revive a downed pal making things slightly easier. The level design lends itself well to both split up and work together to complete the objectives. You’ll want to crank up the difficulty a bit while doing this, but it’s a satisfying way to enjoy the story with a friend. The campaign itself in Sniper Elite 4 is playable in two player co-op. These maps are equally as huge as the campaign missions themselves and really force players to work together to complete all objectives. In these missions one player is the sniper while the other is a spotter, or in Sniper Elite 4’s case, a saboteur. Three overwatch missions make a return, a feature the series has had since the first game. Co-Op is back in a big way with Sniper Elite 4 with three separate co-op modes on display.
